at Nisethkhmer.org understand education is very
important. We encourage Cambodian students
to stay in school and complete their education
career. At NKS we want the students to
pursue higher educaton.
Our
Mission:
To
promote education for the next generation of
Cambodian students.
Our
Goal/Objective:
Promoting
education for the next generation of Cambodians to
preserve and share Khmer culture and heritage to
all people.
Background:
On
January
2001 Niseth Khmer Scholarship (NKS) held it first
meeting and invited the participation of various
student organizations in Southern
California. KHMERMARKET.com, the main
sponsor and founder of NKS host the meeting in
Long Beach.
The
meeting was a success with 5 student organizations
attending. The student organization then
formed a committee to oversee all aspect of NKS.
The committee consist of representatives from the
participating student organizations.
KHMMERMARKET.com plays the role as the moderator,
sponsor and host for NKS.
NKS
successfully promoted the 1st Annual Niseth Khmer
Scholarship awarding 5 scholarship winners $300
each. The award presenting took place at the
various student organization's 2001 Cultural Show
events.
KHMERMARKET.com
continued the Niseth Khmer Scholarship and expand
the program to Cambodia.
In September 30,
2001 Niseth Khmer Scholarship successfully
complete the scholarship project in Cambodia
giving out over 10 scholarship ranging from $5 to
$30 spending at total $650 for the project.
We
would like to continue the Niseth Khmer
Scholarship but we cannot do it alone. We
need your help to participate, promote, and donate
to help fund this project. You can make a
difference and help to promote education to many
other Cambodian students around the world.
